Philoptochos Mission Statement

To promote charitable, benevolent and philanthropic outreach, to preserve the sanctity of life and family, and to perpetuate and to promote our Orthodox faith and traditions.

About the Philoptochos

St. Anna's is part of the Direct Archdiocesaan District regional Board, which consists of 56 chapters covering New York, Connecticut and Washington D.C. There are 485 chapters within the United States. Working with DAD, we offer various programs throughout the year, Throughout the year, we offer various programs, including raising awareness on women's health, literacy, environmental awareness and alerting people on issues of battered women. Most important we take our responsability to live up to the name of Philoptochos which means "friend of the poor". We support many organizations: St. Michael's Home of the Aged and the fundraising for the new St. Michael's Home in Uniondale, , St. Michael's, the rebuilding of St. Nicholas Shrine in New York to offering scholarships to Seminarians. Various health charities such as St. Mary's Children's Hospital in Bayside NYand The Children's Medical Fund are helped annually. We also sponsor a meal at our neighboring Mary Brennan Inn every spring. YOU make Philoptochos and without YOU we cannot move ahead.
